The Walk is meant to be simple and thought provoking. Full of moments, quotes, lyrics …a haiku if you will. It’s our paths and what crosses them as we walk through life. We will update this portion of the site weekly and look forward to hearing from you too. Leave us your comments on our words or write something that has inspired you along the way. Walking together is better than walking alone.

My story is one that is hard to write about and I know will be one that is hard to read about. My story is about love – in my world, it’s the strongest and most powerful kind of love. It’s about fighting for those you love and then accepting when it’s time to let go. It’s full of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. It’s about incomprehensible tragedy and grief. It’s about finding small joys in each day and holding onto them tightly. It’s about moving forward (not moving on) and about taking it one step at a time, one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. Because I have no choice but to move forward. Let me start from the beginning.
On February 18, 2018, we were blessed and overjoyed to welcome our second baby boy Matthew into our family. We were thrilled to be parents again to this sweet little blond haired blue eyed happy baby, and our then four year old son Harrison was the sweetest and most gentle and loving big brother. For the next several months, we relished in the joy that having a new baby brought to our family. Our family was complete and life couldn’t have been better.
The Beauty within Tragedy; Awakening
The book is about pain, resiliency and personal, bad ass growth! Let's face it, there is a lot of bad that happens throughout our lives. But it's how we choose to react to these occurrences that matters. Everything in life happens for us, to build us up, to make us greater than even we can possibly imagine. When you learn how to harness that mantra, you truly get to live. Embracing all the tragedy and finding beauty within these moments provide an opportunity to rise up and transform.
and Journal Journey here!
There’s a disconnect on the field, court, ice, sand and all other mediums of athletic play that have disassociated the person to the game. It’s become about the bottom line and the talent vs the person that has massive talent. Using personal lived experiences that are deemed tragic, horrific, traumatizing and the like are known as weaknesses instead of warriors fighting to unleash the very talent the organization is begging to achieve from their athletes.
Mental toughness shouldn’t be about how many emotions you can stuff down to perform at your highest. It should be about what emotions or traumas can we uncover to discover blocks and alleviate stress that’s manifesting during play.
It’s not about playing the game with pain, it’s about making the pain work for you!

Temporary You
used to hate the idea of change when was younger, maybe most kids do. As I got older and realized change is inevitable, I learned to accept it and anticipate the idea of change. Small changes breed different thought patterns that may not even be noticed. Big change creates different ways of thinking, being, living and acting. All the difficult moments that may seem never ending will change and you will be better for it. I think the main point is, temporary is good and shouldn’t be forgotten, especially when you’re dealing with something so troubling. It is hard to see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel…but say your mantra that ‘this is temporary’ and hopefully it helps. You can’t grow without change and you can’t live without struggle, so embrace it and know you will be a better version of yourself afterwards.
Believe me when I tell you that everything is temporary. There is not one thing in the world that won’t change, including and especially you.”

I just love the word HARMONY! You can use it in the literal context, as symbolism and a way of living. When I was re-configuring my path, this was the word I chose to define my being. I want to live harmoniously in all facets of my life. Peace of soul, mind and body. I want harmony in love, my children, my career, my life. The balance is the struggle, it’s hard to find. If you can find harmony in the things you do, life seems to flow a lot easier.
Comeback Kid - The Band Perry
Determination of self is one key to a happy life lived. Never give up on you and the power you hold to reinvent! Your pain can be like living through a nightmare and you may hate every second of it…good! That hate will propel and drive you to find love again. There will be doubt and utter sadness, this is all natural and very empowering. Take your licks knowing that they will make you win.
You’re made for it all…the good, bad and everything in between. Life isn’t fair and now that we know that, we accept that we may be undeserving of all the crap that gets thrown our way and move on. What seems like the end, is not, and you create your comeback. Be down, but then get the hell up and fight your way back to your life. You take control, you own you! Even if you do completely break, it’s your puzzle to put back together. The end of your mess is determined by your optimism. It’s your choice to grab at growth and stage your comeback.
